- 국립고궁박물관, 주아랍에미리트 한국문화원과 공동 온라인 전시 개최(7.1.~9.23.) -

  문화재청 국립고궁박물관(관장 김동영)은 한국과 아랍에미리트간 상호문화교류의 해(2020~2021)를 맞이하여 주 아랍에미리트 한국문화원과 ‘조선 왕실의 소망과 바람, 궁궐 장식그림’ 온라인 전시를 개최한다. 

  전시되는 작품은 한국 드라마, 영화에도 자주 등장했던 국립고궁박물관의 대표 소장품으로, 왕실 생활공간에 펼쳐졌던 그림부터 궁궐의 창호를 장식했던 그림, 창덕궁 내부 벽면을 장식했던 벽화 등 조선 왕실의 번성을 염원하는 마음을 담아 제작된 궁궐의 장식 그림 17점이다.

  ‘조선 왕실의 소망과 바람, 궁궐 장식그림’ 전시는 주 아랍에미리트 한국문화원에서 제공하는 전시 누리집(www.k-museum.com)을 통해서 관람할 수 있으며 관람객의 접근 환경에 따라 한국어, 영어, 아랍어로 해설을 제공한다. 온라인 전시는 특별 전시기간 이후에도 언제든 ‘구글 아트 앤 컬처’ 국립고궁박물관 누리집에서 볼 수 있다.

  이번 전시는 아랍에미리트를 포함한 중동 문화권에 조선 왕실 문화를 처음으로 널리 알리는 출발점이 될 것이다. 참고로, 국립고궁박물관은 2018년부터 박물관 소장품 2,500여 점의 고해상도 이미지를 ‘구글 아트 앤 컬처’ 국립고궁박물관 누리집에서 제공하고 있다.

  또한, 국립고궁박물관의 대표 소장품 50여 점은 ‘아트 카메라’로 촬영한 초고해상도 이미지로 감상할 수 있다.

Wishes for Prosperity: Decorative Paintings of the Joseon Royal Court (July 1 – September 23, 2021)

In celebration of the Korea-UAE Year of Cultural Dialogue (2020-2021), the National Palace Museum of Korea (Director: Kim Dong-Young), an affiliate of the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea, and the Korean Cultural Center in the UAE are jointly presenting the online exhibition Wishes for Prosperity: Decorative Paintings of the Joseon Royal Court. The exhibition will be available for viewing through the museum’s page on Google Arts and Culture.

The exhibition will be a starting point for promoting the royal culture of the Joseon Dynasty in the Middle East, including in the United Arab Emirates. It presents for the first time in the region, the major paintings of the National Palace Museum of Korea collection, which the local people may have encountered in Korean TV drama series and films.

Seventeen paintings that were produced as a means to embody wishes for the prosperity of the Joseon royal court are being presented at the exhibition. These paintings from the collection of the National Palace Museum of Korea adorned the living quarters of the royal family, the windows and doors of the palaces, and the interior of Changdeokgung Palace.

During the period of Wishes for Prosperity: Decorative Paintings of the Joseon Royal Court, the paintings can be enjoyed on the website www.k-museum.com, and they will continue to be available for viewing on the Google Arts and Culture website even after the exhibition closes. Commentaries on the works are provided in Korean, English, or Arabic according to where the online exhibition is accessed. 

Since establishing a partnership with Google Arts and Culture in 2018, the National Palace Museum of Korea has been offering more than 2,500 works in the form of high-resolution images on the museum’s page on the site. Among them, fifty major highlights of the museum collection can be enjoyed as ultra-high-resolution images captured using Google’s “Art Camera.”
