- 박물관, 관광, 매체 등 다양한 주제의 세계유산 설명 (8회, 4~11월) -

  문화재청(청장 김현모)이 후원하는 ‘2021 세계유산 해석과 설명의 이해 온라인 강연 시리즈’가 오는 15일부터 11월 18일까지 8개월간 매달 한차례씩 개최된다.

  유네스코 세계유산국제해석설명센터 설립추진단(이하 추진단)이 주최하는 이번  온라인 릴레이 강연은 세계유산 설명에 중점을 두어, ‘유산설명: 세계유산의 다양한 가치 전달’을 주제로 매월 1회씩 총 7회의 강연과 1회의 특별 좌담이 예정되어 있다. 참고로 지난해 강연은 세계유산 해석을 주제로 진행됐다.
  * 유산 해석: 유산이 지닌 다양한 가치 중 특정 가치를 선택하고 수용하는 일련의 작업
  * 유산 설명: 해석을 통한 유산의 의미와 가치를 대중에게 효과적으로 전달하는 모든 활동

  유산 설명을 주제로 한 첫 회차인 15일 강연에는 마리오 산타나 유네스코 세계유산위원회 자문기구 국제기념물유적협의회(이코모스, 이하 ICOMOS) 사무총장이  ‘세계유산 설명의 이해’ 강좌를 진행하며, 이어서 매 달마다 박물관, 관광, 디지털 기술, 방문객 경험 중심, 공동체 참여, 미디어 등 다양한 분야에서의 세계유산 설명의 역할에 대한 강연이 한 차례씩 진행된다.

  마지막 회차인 11월에는  ‘포용적 세계유산 해석과 설명’을 주제로 한 특별 좌담이 예정되어 있다. 여기에는 지난해 1회차 강연자인 닐 실버만 미국 메사추세츠대학 교수와 올해 1회차 강연자인 마리오 산타나 유네스코 자문기구 ICOMOS 사무총장이 참여한다.

  첫 강연은 4월 15일 목요일 오후 10시(한국시간)부터 약 30분간의 강연과 15분간의 질의응답으로 이뤄진다. 추진단의 유튜브와 페이스북을 통해 실시간 중계되며, 누구나 사전 참가 신청 없이 참여할 수 있다. 강연과 실시간 방송은 영어로 진행되며, 이후 추진단 유튜브 내 국영문 자막이 포함된 강연 영상을 제공할 계획이다.

  지난해에 이어 올해에도 세계적인 전문가들이 참여하여 펼쳐지는 강연은 세계유산 해석과 설명에 대한 다양한 학제적 관점을 제시하고 있어 세계유산의 의미와 가치를 이해하는 기회가 될 것으로 기대한다.

2021 Online Lecture Series on Understanding
World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation Lectures on heritage presentation including museums, tourism, and media (8 sessions, Apr-Nov.)

The 2021 Online Lecture Series on Understanding World Heritage Interpretation and Presentationsponsored by the Cultural Heritage Administration (hereinafter CHA), will be held once a month during 15 April – 18 November 2021.

The theme of the 2021 Online Lecture Series, hosted by the preparatory office for the International Centre for the Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites under the auspices of UNESCO (hereinafter the Preparatory Office for WHIPC), is ‘Presentation: Delivering Multiple Values of World Heritage.’ There will be one session every month for eight months (seven lectures with one special discussion in total) between 15 April to 18 November.
* Heritage Interpretation: the process and activity of understanding the meaning and value of heritage based on interpreters’ socio-cultural backgrounds
* Heritage Presentation: the communicative activities delivering those meaning, values, and heritage information

The 1st lecture on 15 April is Introduction World Heritage Presentation by Mario Santana, the Secretary-General of ICOMOS, followed by the lectures on World Heritage presentation in museums, tourism, digital technology, visitor-centered presentation, community participation, and media [See Attachment 1].

The last 8th section, which will be held in November, is a special dialogue under the theme of Inclusive and Participatory World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation between Neil Silberman, Professor at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst and the first lecturer of 2020 online series, and Mario Santana, the Secretary-General of ICOMOS and the first lecturer of 2021 series.

The first lecture of the series consisting of a lecture and Q&A is scheduled for Thursday, 15 April at 10:00 pm KST: a 30-minute lecture and a 15-minute Q&A session. The series will be streamed live on the preparatory office’s YouTube channel and Facebook page and open to all without prior registration. The sessions will be live-streamed in English; the English and Korean subtitles will be provided for the lecture videos to be uploaded to the preparatory office’s YouTube channel after the streaming.

Following last year, the Online Lecture Series with international heritage professionals is expected to provide an opportunity to understand the meaning and value of World Heritage through various interdisciplinary perspectives on World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation.
