국제문화유산보존복구연구센터(ICCROM)와 ‘콜아시아(CollAsia)’ 교육 개최(9.18.~10.6. 타지키스탄 국립박물관)

문화재청 국립문화재연구원(원장 김연수)은 9월 18일부터 10월 6일까지 3주간 타지키스탄 국립박물관에서 국제문화유산보존복구연구센터(ICCROM, 이하 이크롬)와 ‘문화유산 관리의 과학적 원리’ 라는 주제로 보존 전문가 역량 강화 프로그램인 ‘콜아시아(CollAsia)’ 교육을 공동 개최한다.
* 콜아시아: Conserving Heritage Collections in Southeast Asia

콜아시아 교육은 2012년부터 문화재청의 신탁기금을 지원받아 운영되는 대표 프로그램으로 한국에서는 매년 운영진을 파견하여 교육에 참여하고 있으며 2017년에는 한국에서 개최하기도 하였다. 특히 이번 행사는 올해 국립문화재연구원과 이크롬이 문화유산 보존관리를 위하여 ‘CollAsia 역량강화 프로그램의 공동기획 및 운영’ 등을 주요 내용으로 하는 약정 체결 후 처음 시행하는 교육과정으로 더욱 의미가 있다.

파키스탄 등 17개국에서 참가하는 이번 교육은 문화유산에 영향을 미치는 다양한 열화 현상을 이해하고 지속 가능한 관리 방안을 마련하기 위한 강의 및 실습, 토론, 학술대회, 현장 답사 등으로 구성된다. 특히 국립문화재연구원에서는 보존과학분야의 풍부한 경험과 실력을 갖춘 전문가들이 참석해 보존과학 기초지식, 유·무기질 문화유산 분석 및 조사 방법, 벽화 보존처리 등에 대해 강의할 예정이다.
* 열화 현상: 문화유산을 구성하고 있는 재료가 외부환경에 노출되면서 물리적, 화학적, 생물학적 원인으로 손상되는 현상

문화재청 국립문화재연구원은 앞으로도 아태지역의 문화유산 보존역량을 강화하기 위해 이크롬과 지속적으로 협력하는 등 적극행정을 이어나갈 예정이다.

The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage(hereinafter NRICH, Director General: Kim Yeonsoo) under the Cultural Heritage Administration(hereinafter CHA) and the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property(hereinafter ICCROM, Director General : Webber Ndoro)will jointly host a three-week capacity-building program for conservation experts at the National Museum of Tajikistan from September 18 to October 6, 2023.
* CollAsia(Conserving Heritage Collections in Southeast Asia, a capacity-building and training program for heritage conservation)

ICCROMhas been conducting a conservation expert training program in collaboration with the CHA since 2012, supported by a trust fund. South Korea has been annually sending its staff to participate in this program, and in 2017, it was even held in South Korea. This joint collaboration is particularly significant as it marks the first implementation of the education program following the recent official partnership between the NRICH and ICCROM in June this year, involving joint planning and execution of the CollAsia capacity-building program, among other initiatives related to cultural heritage conservation management.
*NRICH-ICCROM Memorandum of Understanding(June 2023∼December 2027): Joint hosting of academic research and international academic conferences on cultural and natural heritage, joint planning and implementation of the CollAsia capacity-building program, and the publication of Korean translations of ICCROM materials and etc.

This education program, with participants from 17 countries including Pakistan, is structured around the theme of "Scientific Principles of Cultural Heritage Management." It aims to provide lectures, practical training, and discussions to help participants understand various deterioration phenomena affecting cultural heritage and formulate sustainable management strategies. The NRICH will provide lectures on foundational conservation science knowledge, analysis and investigation methods for organic and inorganic cultural materials, and mural conservation techniques.

The Cultural Heritage Administration and the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage will continue to collaborate and provide support to international organizations for the enhancement of cultural heritage conservation capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region.
