올해로 발간 15주년… 문화·자연·무형유산 전 세계에 알려온 대표 영문 계간지

  문화재청(청장 최응천)은 대한민국 국가유산의 가치와 다양성을 외국인에게 널리 알리기 위한 영문 홍보지 ‘코리안 헤리티지(KOREAN HERITAGE)’의 2023년 봄호를 3월 마지막 주 발간한다.(총 3500부 발간, 56페이지)

  2008년 여름호로 시작해 올해 발간 15주년을 맞은 코리안 헤리티지는 그동안 문화·자연·무형유산을 총망라하여 우리 국가유산의 다양한 가치를 쉽지만 깊이 있게 국내외에 전달해왔다. 재외공관, 해외 문화원 방문객, 해외 한글학교, 해외 대학교 등에 배포되어 우리 국가유산에 대한 학계, 일반인 등 다양한 분야 외국인들의 이해를 도와 왔다.

  특히 올해에는 기획단계에서부터 우리나라의 정치·경제·사회·문화·역사 등 각 분야에 걸쳐 많은 지식과 경험을 보유한 지한파 전문가들이 기고와 자문에 참여하여 도안(디자인)과 내용에 다양한 변화를 시도하였으며, 현대 문화의 뿌리가 된 우리 전통문화를 재조명하는 콘텐츠도 신설했다.

  문화재청은 이번 봄호부터 국내에 있는 국제학교, 외국인학교와 외국어 관련 고등학교 등에도 배포를 확대하여, 외국인 학생들은 장래에 대한민국 국가유산에 대한 풍부한 지식과 경험을 갖춘 지한파 인재로 발돋움함과 동시에, 한국인 학생들은 우리 국가유산의 의미와 가치를 국내외에 제대로 알리는 데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.


  국민 모두가 해외에 우리 유산을 홍보할 주체라는 점에서 코리안 헤리티지는 별도 누리집(www.koreanheritage.kr)에 전자책(e-book, pdf 형태)으로도 게재하여 공개하고 있으며 누구나 내려 받을 수 있다. 문화재청은 앞으로도 해외에 우리 유산을 아름답고 올바르게 알리기 위한 최선의 노력을 다할 것이다.

The Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) will release the Spring 2023 issue of KOREAN HERITAGE, an English-language publication, in the last week of March to promote the value and diversity of Korea's heritage abroad (35,000 copies, 56 pages).
KOREAN HERITAGE, having started with Summer 2008 issue, celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. It has been covering cultural, natural, and intangible heritage, conveying the diverse values of our heritage in a simple yet in-depth manner to both Koreans and foreigners. It has been delivered to diplomatic missions in Korea and abroad, visitors to overseas cultural centers, overseas Hangeul schools, and overseas universities. It has helped foreigners from various walks of life, including academics, and the general public, to have a deeper appreciation of Korean cultural heritage.
In particular, this year, non-Korean experts with extensive knowledge and experience in various field such as political, economic, social, and cultural history of Korea participated in contributions and consultations from the planning stage to make various changes in both design and content, and CHA plans to newly introduce articles that shed light on the traditional culture, which is the root of modern culture.
By expanding the distribution to international schools and foreign language schools in Korea from this spring issue, CHA anticipates that the international students will become more knowledgeable in the cultural heritage of Korea in the future, while Korean students will be able to contribute to promoting the significance and value of Korean cultural heritage at home and abroad.
KOREAN HERITAGE will be shared in e-book and pdf file format on its website (www.koreanheritage.kr), recognizing that we are responsible for promoting our heritage overseas. The Cultural Heritage Administration will continue to do its best to promote our heritage overseas.
