- 국립고궁박물관, 안녕, 모란 특별전과 만난 현대 춤 영상 유튜브 소개 / 9.30.~ -

  문화재청 국립고궁박물관(관장 김인규)은 국립고궁박물관에서 열리고 있는 ‘안녕, 모란’ 특별전(2021. 7.7.~10.31.) 전시장에서 펼쳐졌던 춤 공연을 담은 <안녕, 모란을 만나다> 영상을 30일 오전 11시부터 온라인(유튜브)에서 공개한다.

  이번 공연은 국립고궁박물관이 기획하고, 국립무용단, 정동극장 등에서 공연기획과 대본 작가로 활동한 이송이 연출을 맡았으며, 호치민 아라베스크대무용단 해외 초빙 안무가이자 국제문예기금 국제예술교류 예술가로 선정되어 베트남에서 활동했던 임선영이 안무와 공연을 담당했다.

  박물관 전시와 현대 춤 공연을 접목한 최초의 시도인 이번 공연은 관람객들이 무용수들의 몸짓을 따라가며 참신한 시각으로 전시를 감상할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 공연순서는 ▲ 모란 정원, ▲ 피어오르고, 또 피어오르며 ▲ 모란, 꽃 그림자, ▲ 아름다운 무늬로 피어난 모란 등 4부로 구성되었다.

  ▲ 모란 정원은 모란을 그린 그림을 영상과 자연의 소리, 모란 향기가 가득한 전시공간에서 펼쳐진다. 무용수들은 이곳에서 왕의 정원에 날아든 한 쌍의 학의 움직임을 표현했다. ▲ 피어오르고, 또 피어오르며는 관람객의 발걸음에 따라 모란꽃이 피어나는 영상을 꽃으로 가득한 공간과 함께 연출했다. 무용수들의 흥이 어우러져 경쾌하고 자유로운 느낌을 표현했다. ▲ 모란, 꽃 그림자는 조명 기구를 이용하여 모란 무늬를 그림자로 표현한 공간을 배경으로 했다. 모란 특유의 화려한 색상 대신 흑백의 대비로만 이루어진 공간에서 안무가는 삶과 죽음, 생성과 소멸의 맞물림을 떠올리며 이를 무용수의 몸짓을 통해 표현했다. ▲ 아름다운 무늬로 피어난 모란은 이번 전시의 대표 유물인 활옷 두 점을 배경으로 혼인하러 가는 공주의 발걸음을 연출했다.

  문화재청 국립고궁박물관은 앞으로도 전시와 다양한 분야의 예술을 결합한 참신한 콘텐츠를 국민에게 제공하기 위해 더욱 노력할 것이다.

Online Viewing of「Encounter with the Peonies!」

The National Palace Museum of Korea (Director Kim In Kyu) of the Cultural Heritage Administration presents a special contemporary dance performance online (via Youtube), titled Encounter with the Peonies!, starting from September 30th,, alongside its special exhibition Peonies: The Flowers of Peace and Prosperity (July 7th - October 31st).

The performance was planned by the National Palace Museum of Korea; directed by Lee Song, who has been working as the production planner and script writer at the National Dance Company of Korea and Jeongdong Theater; and choreographed and performed by Lim Sunyoung, who has been working in Vietnam, as the international guest choreographer at the Ho Chi Minh City Arabesques Dance Company and selected artist for international art exchange of the Culture and Arts Promotion Fund.

This performance is the first of its kind, whereby the museum exhibition teams up with a contemporary dance performance. The viewers will be guided by the movements of the performers and enjoy the exhibition from a fresh and creative new angle. The performance is made up of four parts: Garden of Peonies; Bloom, and bloom again! ; Peonies, flower shadows; and Peonies blooming in beautiful patterns.

‘Garden of Peonies’ takes part in the exhibition space where paintings of peonies are presented along with the sound and media images of nature, as well as the actual fragrance of the flower. The dancers show the intricate movements of a pair of cranes that has flown into the King’s garden. ‘Bloom, and bloom again!’ is performed in the hallway where an interactive video device is installed. When visitors step into the hallway, peonies would bloom along their trodden steps. The space, filled with flowers, brings joy to the performers, and this joyous feeling blooms into light and free-spirited movements of the dancers.  ‘Peonies, flower shadows’ is performed against the backdrop of flower pattern shadows, created with a lighting device. Instead of the colorful pallette of the flowers, a sharp contrast of black and white fills the space, and the choreographed moves depict the interplay between life and death, creation and extinction. ‘Peonies blooming in beautiful patterns’ follows the footsteps of a princess on her way to her own wedding, as the dancers perform in front of the two pieces of hwarot (bridal robe), which are the highlight of this exhibition.

The National Palace Museum of Korea of the Cultural Heritage Administration will continue to present innovative contents that combine its exhibitions with diverse genre of art.
